The HSS Black bit is a good all-rounder when it comes to drilling steel. The black oxide coating provides heat resistance and lubricity as well as corrosion resistance. The 118 degrees cutting point makes it a general purpose bit for drilling into wood, plastics, and milder steel types. Not ideal to be used on stainless steel or harder metal types.
