On 1 March 2011 he was appointed as the Marketing and Procurement Director. On 1 March 2012 he was appointed as the Chief Executive.

He obtained his CA(SA) qualification in 1994 and completed his articles with PwC. Wimpie joined Cashbuild in April 2008 and has been responsible for various functions, with the last 6 years as Procurement Executive.
