P&L HARDWARE Helping Hearts proudly introduces COMMUNITY HERO Bokang Rapatsa – founder of Bokang’s Learning Academy based at Moletji Makgodu. Being passionate about education and community development, Bokang saw a need in her community for an afterschool to support the youth who were going to school without doing their homework.
At Bokang’s Learning Academy the children are given social, emotional and cognitive support whilst focussing on academic development. They are assisted with their homework assignments, school projects and reading and writing skills. The centre helps reduce risky behaviours, promotes physical health, and provides a safe and supportive environment.
“Many young children have been encouraged to stay off the off the streets because they spend most of their time at the centre and they also attend on weekends and during school holidays. Bokang helps children from Grade R to grade 8 with all relevant subjects. Elders, parents, caregivers and parents who are unable to assist their children with school work are very grateful for this initiative.” says her nominee.
