Olievenhoutbosch Donation

Cashbuild in partnership with Lasher Tools has donated 10 Wheelbarrows to a local community-based organisation in Olievenhoutbosch, a township west of the city of Tshwane.

Two youths from the township saw a need to deliver food to the indigent household when many could not move around due to the national lockdown. Tshepo Mmema and Thulasizwe Ntshangase started The wheelbarrow Association and were soon joined by many youths from the area.

Mmema said that they started the organisation when Mahlasedi Foundation started donating food parcels in the community in May and many elderly and disabled people struggling to carry food parcels home and this when this idea was born.

“The assistance given to us by Cashbuild is well appreciated, and we will be able to carry on with our work. We have now gone to other areas as our services are needed across poor areas,” said Mmema.

Manager of Community Support Initiatives at Cashbuild, Thembelani Tukwayo handed out the Wheelbarrows. “We are glad that together with Lasher Tools we can make this donation possible. This demonstrates the power of partnerships. We hope that the association will be able to extend its work to the benefit of the broader community,” said Tukwayo.

Community development is very close to the business’s heart and as part of its vision to make a positive contribution to every community in which it trades, Cashbuild has been contributing to local schools for almost 20 years.
