CASHBUILD AWARDS SCHOOLS IN NELSPRUIT WITH BUILDING MATERIAL VOUCHERS

Eight schools in Nelspruit were the lucky winners of the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition. The schools each received a Cashbuild building material voucher to the value of R15 000 at the opening ceremony of the refurbished Cashbuild Nelspruit Plaza store on the 5th September 2018. Building, painting and general maintenance were the principals' priorities for upgrading the schools.

John Mdluli Primary School and Nelspruit Primary School were two of the eight schools that received a Cashbuild building material voucher to the value of R15 000.

Mr Stanley Charles, the principal of John Mdluli Primary School, was excited by the news and said: "We have been trying to complete the grandstand for the sports days but just cannot raise enough money to do so. Now with this prize from Cashbuild we can purchase the building materials we need and finish the job. We are very grateful to Cashbuild."

The principal of Nelspruit Primary School, Mr Werner van Tonder said the welcomed voucher would be put to good use. "We will be purchasing new toilets, basins and plumbing materials to upgrade the boys and girls bathrooms. The voucher has come in so handy."

At the opening ceremony of the refurbished Cashbuild Highgate store that took place on the 5th of September 2018, when the building material vouchers totaling R120 000 were handed out to the eight winning schools, the children entertained everyone with singing, cultural dances and theatrical performances. The Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition entails learners from each school submitting their best artwork to Cashbuild. This artwork is displayed at the ceremony, and then remains on display in the Cashbuild store for the next six years.

Artwork was judged and three winners from each school were named. Winners received Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively. The Manager's Choice award was judged and presented to a learner from KLIPSPRINGER PRIMARY SCHOOL who was the overall winner of the artwork competition. This award was announced on the day and the winner received a stationery pack and a glass trophy. The winner was also given the honour of officially opening the store.
