SCHOOLS IN MQANDULI BENEFIT WITH CASHBUILD

Eight schools in the Mqanduli area were the winners of the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition. They each received a Cashbuild building material voucher to the value of R15 000 at the Cashbuild Mqanduli Store Opening Ceremony held on the 21st of June 2017. Ceilings, water tanks as well as a fresh coat of paint are some of the improvements the school principals plan to carry out.

Shinira, Mancam and Pangindlela Junior Secondary Schools were three of the eight schools that each received a Cashbuild building material voucher to the value of R15 000. Shinira Junior Secondary School’s Principal, S Ncekiso said they are very happy because this has given them the opportunity to install new ceilings in preparation for the cold winter weather to prevent some of their learners from possibly becoming ill.

Z Pantshwa, Principal of Mancam Junior Secondary School said they are excited and motivated to be chosen by Cashbuild to win this competition. Because of water shortages, they would like to purchase water tanks, taps, and gutters as well as hose pipes to ease a bit of the water strain they are currently facing. The principal of Pangindlela Junior Secondary School, L Noah added, while thanking Cashbuild, that they would like to paint the entire school.

At the official Cashbuild Mqanduli store opening ceremony held on the 21st of June 2017, when the building material vouchers totaling R120 000 were presented to all eight schools, the children entertained everyone with singing, cultural dances and theatrical performances.

The Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition entails learners from each school submitting their best artwork to Cashbuild. This artwork is displayed at the ceremony, and then remains on display in the Cashbuild store for the next six years.

Artwork was judged and three winners from each school were named. Winners received Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively. The Manager’s Choice award was also presented to the overall winner, Luxolo Bhanga from Mancam Junior Secondary School. This award was announced on the day and the winner received a stationery pack and a glass trophy. The winner also officially opened the store.
