Since the Art-at-Heart campaign was launched 16 years ago, Cashbuild has helped more than 2200 schools in Southern Africa with over R26-million worth of building materials.

Mmabatho gets R96 000 from Cashbuild's Art-at-Heart

The learners of Melorane Primary School in Mmabatho are now able to concentrate more in class because they’ll have a new ceiling. This is because Melorane Primary School entered into the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition and is one of eight lucky schools in the Mmabatho area to receive a Cashbuild building material voucher to the value of R12 000.

“We plan on renovating the school by fixing the ceiling which is currently in a dreadful state as it is falling apart, and the roof is leaking. We already had a plan drawn up so the donation could not have come at a better time”. Says Mrs Mosela Sibisi , Principal of Melorane.

“We are very grateful to Cashbuild for the donation”, “We will now be able to create a learner friendly environment” adds Mrs Sibisi.

The total donation of R96 000 worth of building material were presented by Cashbuild at the Mmabatho store opening ceremony on the 13th of March 2009 when the school children showed their appreciation by entertaining everyone with cultural dances, theatrical performances and traditional singing.

Children from each of the schools submitted their best artwork to Cashbuild, which was displayed at the Mmabatho store on the day of the opening ceremony, and will be displayed in the store for the next five years.

The best artwork from the eight schools was judged and each school had three winners who received a Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificate. The manager’s choice award, which is the lucky overall winner of the artwork competition, was announced on the day –Tshepang Ngakane from Sol Plaatjie Primary received a R500 stationery voucher and a glass trophy.
