CASHBUILD MADE BUILDING AND PAVING POSSIBLE FOR EIGHT SCHOOLS IN MAUN

Eight schools in Maun, Botswana, were the lucky winners of the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition. The schools each received a Cashbuild building material voucher to the value of P12 000 at the official refurbished Cashbuild store opening ceremony which took place on the 31st of May 2018. The building vouchers will be used for building classrooms and paving school grounds.

Bonatla Primary School, Xhabara Primary School and Kubung Primary School were three of the eight schools that will each receive a Cashbuild building material voucher to the value of P12 000.

Mrs Kgostso Motswadi of Bonatla Primary, says with absolute glee: "This is great news for our school and we are so happy. Our main intention is to build a library for the learners. It is very important for the children to learn to read and what better way to teach them, than with a library full of books."

Xhabara Primary school's principal, Tracy Baemisi Mokunki tells us: "We only have 27 classrooms and we need five more, and with this wonderful donation from Cashbuild we can build 5 temporary rooms outside to make room for all our learners." We are so happy, she adds.

A very proud principal from Kubung Primary School, Mrs Esther Maokisa, says with excitement: "We are going to pave the assembly area for our learners. The students were surprised to hear that the school had received such a large donation from Cashbuild and I will be writing a personal letter to Cashbuild to show my appreciation. We will express our happiness when our learners do a traditional dance performance at the event." She adds: "Our learners are the champion dancers in our area at the moment and I am so very proud."

At the official refurbished Cashbuild store opening ceremony that took place on the 31st May 2018, when the building material vouchers, totaling P96 000, were handed out to the eight winning schools, the children entertained everyone with singing, cultural dances and theatrical performances.

The Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition entails learners from each school submitting their best artwork to Cashbuild. This artwork is displayed at the ceremony, and then remains on display in the Cashbuild store for the next six years.

Artwork was judged and three winners from each school were named. Winners received Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively. The Manager's Choice award was judged and presented to a learner from Shashe Primary School who was the overall winner of the artwork competition. This award was announced on the day and the winner received a stationery pack and a glass trophy. The winner was also given the honour of officially opening the refurbished store.
