FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS FOR INANDA SCHOOLS

Eight schools in the Inanda area were the winners of the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition. They each received a Cashbuild building materials voucher worth R15 000 at the Cashbuild Inanda Store Opening Ceremony held on the 14th of April 2016. Bathroom repairs, painting and plumbing were just some of the maintenance tasks planned by the school principals.

Ukukhanyakokusa, Vusukukhanya and Sekusile Primary Schools were three of the eight chosen schools that each received a Cashbuild building materials voucher worth R15 000. Ukukhanyakokusa Primary School's Principal, M Msimango said they are very grateful to Cashbuild, their learners were jumping up and down with excitement. For sanitary and odour reasons, they would like to improve their bathroom conditions as well as replace a few broken windows before the cold season.

B Ndadane, Deputy Principal of Vusukukhanya Primary School said they are very happy and had shown their appreciation at the Cashbuild store opening ceremony by doing a special Sarafina dance. They would like to purchase plumbing equipment and paint for the school.

The Deputy Principal of Sekusile Primary School added while thanking Cashbuild, their school has been recently developed so they will use the Cashbuild voucher to take care of day-to-day maintenance of the school.

At the official Cashbuild Inanda Store Opening Ceremony held on the 14th of April 2016, when the building material vouchers totaling R120 000 were presented to all eight schools, the children entertained everyone with singing, cultural dances and theatrical performances.

The Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition required learners from each school to submit their best artwork to Cashbuild. This artwork was displayed at the ceremony, and then remains on display in the Cashbuild store for the next six years.

Artwork was judged and three winners from each school were named. Winners received Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively. The Manager's Choice awards were also presented to the overall winner of the artwork competition. This award was announced on the day and the winner received a stationery pack and a glass trophy.
