Gaborone North schools beef up security

The security at schools in the Gaborone North area will soon be upgraded. Itumeleng Primary School would like to build a security premises and Bosele Primary School can finally build a wall around the school grounds. These additions are made possible thanks to their entry into the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition. Itumeleng, Bosele, Segoditshane and five other lucky schools will soon be receiving a Cashbuild building material voucher worth P12 000 at the Gaborone North store opening ceremony on 16 May 2012.

We are very concerned about our security guards at the school, explains Mr Enock M Debula, principal of Itumeleng Primary School. "To show our gratitude for protecting us, we would like to build them their very own premises."

"I would like to thank Cashbuild for their generous award, the students, parents and staff are very grateful. We are planning to utilize the voucher effectively by building a wall around the school to protect our learners," said Mr Mpho Rammile from Bosele Primary School.

Mrs Keipeile Moshabi , the deputy principal of Segoditshane Public School said: "We are planning to build a cultural house where our learners can learn more about our various cultures." At the official Cashbuild Gaborone North store opening ceremony on 16 May, when the building material vouchers totaling P96 000 were presented to all eight schools, the children entertained everyone with singing, cultural dances and theatrical performances. The Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition entails learners from each school submitting their best artwork to Cashbuild. This artwork is displayed at the ceremony, and then remains on display in the Cashbuild store for the next five years.

Artwork was judged and three winners from each school were named. Winners received Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively. The Manager's Choice award was also presented to the lucky winner, Khumo Stock from Notwane Primary School for the artwork competition. This award was announced on the day and the winner received a stationery pack and a glass trophy.
