Ermelo gets R60 000 from Cashbuild's Art-at-Heart
The 900 children at Wesselton Primary School in Ermelo will now eat food that’s healthier and more hygienic. This is because Wesselton Primary School entered into the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition and is one of six lucky schools in the Ermelo area to each receive a R10 000 Cashbuild building materials voucher.
“We are very grateful to Cashbuild for the donation; we will now be able to provide the learners of the school who are mostly orphans, with food that is healthy and prepared in a hygienic environment”. says Ms Thusi, Principal of Wesselton. “We plan on renovating the kitchen that we built for the purpose of the feeding scheme -the rest of the donation will be used for buying uniforms for some of the orphans”.
The total donation of R60 000 worth of building material will be presented by Cashbuild at the Ermelo store opening on the 18th of February 2009 when the school children will show their appreciation by entertaining everyone with cultural dances, theatrical performances and traditional singing.
Children from each of the schools submitted their best artwork to Cashbuild, which will be on display at the Ermelo store opening ceremony, as well as for the next five years.
The best artwork from the six schools will be judged and each school will have three winners who will each receive a Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificate. The manager’s choice award, which is the lucky overall winner of the artwork competition, will be announced on the day and will receive a stationery voucher and a glass trophy.

Since the Art-at-Heart campaign was launched in 2001, Cashbuild has helped more than 870 schools with over R9-million worth of building materials. Cashbuild is BEE compliant and every time a store is opened, relocated or refurbished, Cashbuild not only makes donations to local schools, but also creates jobs for community members.
The Art-at-Heart competition is a national Cashbuild initiative whereby donations are made to some of the country’s most needy schools.
