Diepkloof schools artwork pays off

Painting, repairing and replacing windows and doors are just a few of the activities due to take place at schools in the Diepkloof area.  Nandi, Khomannani and Qhobosheane Primary School are three of the eight schools that each received Cashbuild building material vouchers to the value of R12 000 on 29 November 2012 at the Cashbuild Diepkloof Store Opening Ceremony.

Patricia Mabudashase, the Natural Science, Social Science, English and EMS teacher from Nandi Primary School said: “We would like to beautify our school entrance by painting it with bright colours. We would also like to renew the HIV symbol on our school’s roof.  Cashbuild’s donation is very welcome and we’re thrilled to be able to make these improvements.”
“We are very excited because now we can fix the broken windows, the doors, finish tiling in the boys’ toilets and build a fence around the sports field”, said Principal Maluleke from Khomannani Primary School.
“We would like to replace the windows, the doors”, explained Qhobosheane Primary School’s Life Orientation Teacher, MJ Manthata.  “And we can now paint the inside of the classrooms too.”
At the official Cashbuild Diepkloof store opening ceremony on 29 November, when the building material vouchers totaling R96 000 were presented to all eight schools, the children entertained everyone with singing, cultural dances and theatrical performances.

The Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition entails learners from each school submitting their best artwork to Cashbuild. This artwork is displayed at the ceremony, and then remains on display in the Cashbuild store for the next five years.

Artwork was judged and three winners from each school were named. Winners received Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively. The Manager’s Choice award was also presented to the lucky winner, Thobile Mdlalose from Nandi Primary School
for the artwork competition. This award was announced on the day and the winner received a stationery pack and a glass trophy.
