Centurion gets R84 000 from Cashbuild's Art-at-Heart
Mr Faron Wood, Principal of Springvale Primary School in Centurion, is really excited about starting a vegetable patch at the school. “Thanks to Cashbuild for their donation, our dream of growing a vegetable patch can now come true,” says Mr Wood. “We plan on using some of the money to help the Grade four learners start their vegetable patch project and the rest of the donation will be used to renovate the bathrooms“.
This is possible because Mr Wood entered Springvale Primary School into the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition and is one of seven lucky schools in the Centurion area to receive a R12 000 Cashbuild building materials donation.
A total of R84 000 worth of building materials will be presented to the seven schools in Centurion at the official Cashbuild store opening ceremony on the February 2009. The school children will also show their appreciation by entertaining everyone present with cultural dances, theatrical performances and traditional singing.
Children from each of the schools submitted their best artwork to Cashbuild, which will be on display at the Centurion store opening ceremony as well as for the next five years.
The best artwork from the seven schools will be judged and each school will have three winners who will each receive a Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificate. The manager’s choice award, which is the lucky overall winner of the artwork competition, will be announced on the day and will receive a stationery voucher and a glass trophy.

Since the Art-at-Heart campaign was launched in 2001, Cashbuild has helped more than 870 schools with over R9 -million worth of building materials. Cashbuild is BEE compliant and every time a store is opened, relocated or refurbished, Cashbuild not only makes donations to local schools, but also creates jobs for community members.
The Art-at-Heart competition is a national Cashbuild initiative whereby donations are made to some of the country’s most needy schools.
