Cavendish Glen gets R90 000 from Cashbuild's Art-at-Heart
Many factors affect a child’s ability to learn and one of them is the environment in which they are taught. For the learners at Kempton Park Primary, their environment is about to be improved. This is one of nine schools that took part in the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition and will be given a R10 000 Cashbuild building materials voucher at the official Cashbuild Cavendish Glen store opening ceremony on 20 February 2009.
“We are using the donation for maintenance purposes” says Mr Lindsay, principal of Kempton Park Primary. “It is very important for the children to have a pleasant environment to learn in, and as the school is quite old we are going to paint, re-pave and fix the building”.
At the store opening ceremony school children will show their appreciation by entertaining everyone present with cultural dances, theatrical performances and traditional singing.
Children from each of the schools submitted their best artwork to Cashbuild. This art will be on display at the Cavendish Glen store on the day of the ceremony as well as for the next five years.
The best artwork from the nine schools will be judged and each school will have three winners who will receive a Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificate. The manager’s choice award, which is the lucky overall winner of the artwork competition, will be announced on the day and will receive a stationery voucher and a glass trophy.

Since the Art-at-Heart campaign was launched in 2001, Cashbuild has helped more than 870 schools with over 9 million rands worth of building materials. Cashbuild is BEE compliant, and every time a store is opened, relocated or refurbished, Cashbuild not only makes donations to local schools, but also creates jobs for community members.
The Art-at-Heart competition is a national Cashbuild initiative whereby donations are made to some of the country’s most needy schools.
